God has given Jerry a heart for marriage. He focused on it for years as a volunteer and an informal mentor. Jerry is an ordained minister. He served on staff as the marriage pastor at Thrive Christian Church in his hometown of Westfield, IN. Most recently, Jerry and his wife Tara have moved to the mountains of North Carolina. They now host couples in their home for coaching sessions. They also offer weekend retreats. Jerry has written two books on marriage. One targets engaged couples. The other is for married couples wanting to fight complacency and enhance intimacy.

Shocking Marriage offers a variety of workshops. They also provide multi-day retreats and online coaching. All these services are targeted at taking marriage to the next level. Jerry spent years as an executive in corporate life and as a successful management consultant. He is thrilled to utilize the skills that he developed in these realms into the world of Marriage Consulting.

Jerry married his wife Tara  in 1982 when they were 21 and 20 respectively.  In the years since, they have endured many joys and hardships. They experienced the death of one child. They also faced the painfully prolonged adoption of another and one miscarriage.  They are the parents of four wonderful kids. Two are a “spring crop” in their thirties, and two are a “fall crop” in their early twenties. As of this writing they have 12 grandchildren! They do not let their long marriage become tiring. They are committed to continuously improving their relationship. They strive to never take each other for granted.  In a phrase, these two love being married to each other, and it shows. Their calling is to share what God has shown them during their marriage. They share these insights with other couples so that others can benefit.
